Is it winter yet?

June 19-25

1. Roofers, exterminators, insurance adjusters. Are these the people I really want to spend my summer with? Looks like that's my lot in life, though. Oh well. This, too, shall pass. Erg.

2. That's a direct quote from last week and I gotta tell you, nothing much has changed.

And that's a direct quote from last week. Why do I think I might as well just put those words in a loop and play them all summer? I mean, if the weatherman can do it (mostly sunny... highs near 100... we broke a record today), why can't I?

Oh -- and add these lovely items to my bitch list:

  • all three of our vehicles have become non-functional -- all at the same time.
  • I have an infected finger, ewwww.
  • the lab totally, totally botched a blood draw yesterday (my arms now look like eggplants, and they never found a drop of blood!) so I have to go back today for another assault.
  • I got a call from my sister yesterday saying that while my mother's house's caretakers were away on vacation, the a/c drip pan overflowed. So my sister walked into a surprise -- buckled wood floors, bubbled ceilings and mildew everywhere. Not to mention no a/c. Ewwww.
  • And last but not least -- sad, sad, sad: today we are having a huge old oak taken out of our back yard. We've been treating it for several years, but it just hasn't responded, so now it has to go before it falls on someone. Explain it to me again -- Why is it better to own your own home rather than rent? I seem to have forgotten (if I ever knew).

All I really want these days is to escape the heat and the home-moanership issues. Fortunately, there we have many good escape ops, so I'll stop whining now:
